As Faster Payments & Specialist Recoveries Team Manager you'll be supporting your team in ensuring; contractual, compliance and industry SLAs are met. Specialist processes for Santander's CPR activity are performed in line with Scheme rules, and Santander's engagement with other Member banks is conducted within the parameters set out and governed by the regulator.

The team play a critical role in protecting Santander RFB and its Customers by minimising actual financial losses relating to errors and major incidents. They have a broad knowledge of all payment schemes, and a specialist focus on Faster Payments and the associated internal accounting, transactional and settlement controls.

The role is part of the wider Payment Operations Management Team and you will be supported by your line manager and peers.

  • Developing and continually expanding specialist knowledge of CPR processes and Faster Payment scheme rules.

  • Representing Santander at critical industry meetings and working groups to successfully interpret and implement regulatory changes, effectively challenge and feedback to other members and scheme on proposed changes and engage internal teams to deliver changes.

  • Building and maintaining a strong working relationships with key stakeholders; onshore and offshore, whilst influencing and challenging at all levels including senior stakeholders.

  • Managing high value/high profile recoveries on behalf of Santander - proficiently mitigating risk and customer impact

  • Liaising with stakeholders, both internal and external, in order to remediate incidents and complaints that impact Santander customers.

  • Enhancing the current operating model to deliver a more robust, efficient, and interoperable structure to ensure that the changing demands of the business are met through the use of efficiency tools, whilst preparing for the forthcoming changes expected due to regulatory and internal developments.

  • Working with colleagues and suppliers across the Bank to ensure that a rigid operational and accounting control model is in place, delivering on the regulatory and internal demands of the business.

  • Embedding a resource and performance management culture that delivers acceptable controls alongside visible opportunities for departmental and individual improvement in terms of resource utilisation and efficiency performance.

Candidate Description

  • Demonstrated experience of successfully leading a complex team, including a proven ability to manage compliance, pressured workloads, financial risk/exposure, and stakeholders across the business.

  • Strong understanding of Payment systems, Domestic payment schemes, governing bodies, and regulatory requirements

    It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Knowledge of Faster Payment scheme rules and Credit Payment Recovery procedures

  • Incident Management experience

  • Understanding of internal accounting, transactional and settlement controls

  • Experience of managing multi-process functions
