Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Job Description

Climate change, biodiversity loss and our impact on the environment are some of the biggest challenges facing this generation. As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist, you’ll support a new business to manage our environmental impact and support our environmental commitments.

You’ll support different parts of the business in developing and implementing an ambitious sustainability strategy. You'll provide expert environmental sustainability knowledge of the natural environment including its protection, mitigation plans and opportunities for enhancements to the Construction and Land & Property departments. 

You'll also be instrumental in updating the company policies based on the natural environment and ensure that these are embedded across the organisation. 

You’ll be an ambassador for sustainability, leading the delivery of the wider sustainability targets within the Environment Action Plan which includes leading steering groups and proactively monitoring other teams performance. This means you'll need have an eye for analytics with some skill with Excel, Power BI wouldn’t hurt either. This will enable you to produce detailed reports to demonstrate high environmental and sustainability performance to a variety of audiences. 

You’ll of course need some significant relevant experience in the industry, along with holding the relevant qualifications  such as a degree, diploma or equivalent. You'll be a member of an industry body such as IEMA, ideally at Chartered status or working towards being Chartered.

This role will involve meeting a number of internal and external stakeholders so you will need to be willing to visit our Warwick office around 2-3 days a week.

We are National Gas, including National Gas Transmission and National Gas Metering.

In February 2023 we became a standalone business, to maintain and own the Gas Infrastructure in the UK. But more than that, to develop and grow this infrastructure to set us up for a cleaner energy future. A future of Hydrogen.
