We are delighted to offer an opportunity for two Editorial Assistants to join our journals publishing team at Cambridge University Press. The successful candidates will work closely with a team of editors managing our world-leading journals programme at a time of substantial operational and strategic development. This entry-level position will provide a strong grounding in the principles and practice of scholarly journals publishing and lay an excellent foundation for a career in editorial.

The role will include:

  • Supporting colleagues in the preparation of publishing reports, financial statements, development plans, forecasts and tender documents.

  • Assisting with the delivery of standalone operational projects that underpin an efficient and high quality publishing service for authors, readers and publishing partners.

  • Conducting data analysis and research across a range of subject areas in support of the editorial development of the Press's portfolio.

  • Provide general administrative support to a friendly and collaborative team of Editors, Commissioning Editors and Publishers in Cambridge and New York.

Candidate Description

We are looking for an individual educated to degree level or equivalent, who has a demonstrable passion for academic publishing and knowledge of the function of peer review journals within it. This is a busy role, demanding good organisational and time-management skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise. Good IT skills, especially proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, and good written and verbal communication skills are also essential. Previous office experience would be an advantage.
