Supporting UKAEA Remote Applications in Challenging Environment (RACE) projects in robotics and control systems with software engineering expertise, producing software for robotic remote handling and related systems, and working on the design and execution of these systems.
Deliver the specification, design, implementation, and testing of software systems such as real-time control systems, human machine interface (HMI) and digital visualisation systems (e.g., VR/AR) using good software engineering practices and standards that follows organisation processes.
Provide technical support for relevant systems and software development support to other team members.
Manage own tasks over days or weeks with attention to quality, timescales and communication.
Work with internal and external partners to establish requirements and achieve project goals.
Essential:
Degree in Software Engineering, computer science, robotics and control or technical subject or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Knowledge of software engineering and design principles including lifecycle, version control and documentation, and strong programming capability to develop quality software in at least of the programming language including C++, Python, Qt. Woking knowledge of applying design principles such as object-oriented design paradigm.
Industry experience working in software engineering.
Experience with virtual reality (VR) and graphical user interface (GUI) is desirable.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to lead and function as part of a team.
