The Business Engagement Manager supports George business areas and SPEM/Programme /Project Managers to translate business strategy and Technology demand into a portfolio of investments which delivers required business capabilities. BEMs foster collaborative and trusted partnerships with stakeholders (internal and external) to enable Technology to improve business performance while making sure they have a voice, and Technology does the right thing for George and Asda.
You'll work very closely with third-party suppliers and our own internal teams, so ideally, you'll have direct experience of working with offshore / global teams across several time zones.
Work with the relevant stakeholders, in particular the George Business Senior Director, and Enterprise and Solution Architects to produce a prioritised short, medium and long term roadmap of change.
Own and construct the annual Project Portfolio that underpins our capital commitments for the year ahead.
Leading pre project engagement investigative work/activities to determine and verify a business problem and needs, culminating in the provision of suitable recommendations and options to support the business change.
Deliver small changes into the business, managing the changes from inception through to production go live and successful transition into BAU (Business as Usual) support
Build and facilitate relationships between technology teams in the UK and around the globe; and external parties (vendors, consultancies).
Engage key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure the portfolio will deliver against the agreed objectives.
Support the Senior Programme Manager in ensuring that the portfolio is managed within Asda's resource and governance lifecycle, and with financial management of the portfolio.
Monitoring of relationships including lessons learned and appropriate feedback initiating improvement in Technology and George performance.

Great leadership and management skills
Extensive experience of estimating resource, time, and cost of individual projects
Extensive experience of building a project portfolio, with dependencies and sequencing
Strong knowledge and interest of Technology
Knowledge of Technology strategy, planning and prioritisation
Ability to effectively engage and influence globally
Excellent relationship management, networking, and stakeholder skills
Competent Business Analysis skills - understanding problems, needs and priorities
